Noguchi’s Akari series started in 1951. Model 55D was started in 1963, stand BB3 was started in 1979. This piece is a transitional piece - it dates from c. late 1970’s/early 1980’s, when Noguchi started adding his signature to Akari light sculptures, rather than just the sun and moon ideogram.

Washi paper shade, bamboo ribbing supported by metal frame, cast iron, bamboo.

Measurements: 73" Height, 21" Width

Condition: Shade has beautiful foxing and patina with signs of wear and areas of repair done with washi paper. Please refer to images and feel free to be in touch with any questions.
